Preparation Process

Not all heavy duty, used Freightliner truck dealers are created equal. The difference is you simply receive a great used Freightliner truck.

Used Freightliner truck preparation

"Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives." - William A. Foster

At SelecTrucks of Kansas City, we go to great lengths to ensure our heavy duty Freightliner trucks set the standard for used truck quality. Our pursuit of product quality starts at the time we purchase our inventory - most of which is sourced from the largest, most successful fleets in the country. But this is just the beginning.

Once we receive new inventory, the trucks undergo a reconditioning process we have appropriately named "WorkReady." This process is broken down into 6 steps, which include: Fuel and Test Drive, 150-Point Inspection, Mechanical and Cosmetic Repair, Detailing, and P.D.I. Each WorkReady step is performed on site by our dedicated service provider and detail crew.

After the test drive, the vehicle is pulled into our full-service shop, and the same certified technician that test drove the truck conducts a 150-point inspection of all major mechanical and cosmetic components. Based on our standardized "sales condition" policy, each inspection point must either pass or fail.

Lifting    Working

Each item that fails the 150-point inspection is repaired or replaced to OEM specifications. These mechanical and cosmetic repairs are, by far, the most costly and time consuming step of the WorkReady process; this critical step truly separates the "men from the boys." Not all heavy duty Freightliner truck dealers go to the lengths that we do to ensure their customers receive as high a quality used truck.

The second to last step in the WorkReady process is detailing. Our truck detail is just that…detailed. Sounds simple, right? Well, not really. Here's how it works:

  1. Pressure WashThe frame and engine compartment are pressure washed to remove all excess grease and oil, and to ensure good paint adhesion.
  2. PaintingNext, the truck is pulled into our on-site paint booth, prepped for painting, and then the frame and bumper are shot a deep, glossy black. If the truck has steel wheels, they are painted at this time.
  3. PolishingThen, all exposed aluminum is polished - including all wheels. If the truck is a Classic XL, or any truck without side fairings, the fuel tanks will be polished to a mirror-like finish.
